Fabrics for "work" side of SWAP 2017

First off, I sew other things, too!!!

The top is a rash guard made from that same ITY fabric I used for the not-quite successful maxi dress this summer.  I drafted it based on another one she has, red arms and silver body (matches the shorts) that she loves, but that had become pretty much transparent in the chest area.  I constructed on my server with flatlock seams, crossing them at the armpits, and then folded over the edges on the arms and hem and just zig-zagged.  Not sure how those crossed flatlock seems will turn out!  I cut out another in an old pink lycra that I had lying around, and will try flatlocking to the seam junction on the shoulder seams, tying them off, and then flatlocking the side seam across that (so that the knife doesn't cut off the previous flatlock edges).

I also put together fabrics for my "officewear/work" half of the swam, using only stash fabrics.

The satin and plaid will be blouses, the browns/grays will be trousers, skirt and jacket.  Yeah, it's a bit weird.  But these are all fabrics that I've really wanted to use up, I do see them each going with a top and bottom even though the plaid and satin clearly don't belong together, and they all fill holes in my work wardrobe.  So - there you go.

I pulled out the new airbrush and propel can, froze the skin on my ring finger (whoops!) and tried out my stencil on some old cotton sheeting.  It's a mix of acryllic paint and fabric medium, and I used a spray adhesive in part of it, no adhesive  in another.  Adhesive is clearly key with a transparency-film stencil!  Perhaps you could get away without it with a heavy felt one.

This picture covers about 1/12 of the stencil - it's huge!  Nine 8.5x11 sheets taped together.  I can't share a picture of it, since it's....transparent.  Once I've sprayed a larger area of fabric, I'll post a picture of it.  It's kind of impressive.  I'm storing it under the spare bed, where I store my large cutting mat.  If dry, it can also be kind of folded along the sheet boundaries, but I suspect that if I do that very much it'll crack.

Once this dries and is ironed, I'll wash and dry it and report back.
