Before I left for my work trips, I'd gotten the jacket body and sleeves sewn together, but the sleeves were not inserted yet. This morning - that is checked off of my list!
I still need to cut the lining (okay, I still need to SELECT the lining, too!) but have already spent some time prancing around in the jacket with it's silly pink underlining showing.
Problems -
1: There are two spots in the sleeve insertion that are not quite puckers, but where there is some extra ease that interferes with the smooth line of the armhole seam. Sigh. To some extent, this is what I get for using poly suiting and a textured underlining that stretches just a bit. It's very wearable, and other problems are worse, so I'm not picking it out.
2: The sleeves are at least an inch too short. They have a very neat vent detail, though. I have monkey arms, apparently. I almost always make 3/4 sleeves, so I haven't really noticed this. But back when I was a serious rock climber, people did note that I had a long span.
3: The sleeves are rather binding, but I wear suit jackets so infrequently that I'm not sure that this is unusual. I almost always err on the side of cutting too large of a size, so I was on the small side here. I like that it will be nice and fitted around my waist and chest when closed, but if I wear this to teach, I'll probably have to leave it open so that I can raise my arms.
