I've been struck by how enmeshed the memories of a time when I work on a project get with the project itself. My mom's tablecloth is all wrapped up with wonderful memories of driving and traveling in England. This blue coat is currently all about the tv show "Victoria". Which is not a great show, but has beautiful clothing and music and is entertaining. If I don't think about it too much.
Back (and collar) as of yesterday afternoon - I made more progress in the evening and it now only has about 4 motifs left.
I also finished my first set of Jalie jeans for the swap. As expected, they are soft and flannely-warm on the inside. I lined the pockets with some lawn that I had left over from my daughters' dresses - they love that I did that!
Kind of a boring pair of slacks, but immensely serviceable. Except...I don't really have the best shoes for them. Am wearing some dove gray boots today.
The side insert - which makes them quite comfy! I went to the trouble of topstitching *after* sewing up the side seams, which is immensely awkward. However, since this fabric doesn't take much of a crease, it helps. They actually look far less wrinkly than they do in these photos. I think it'll all improve after a washing, too.
So, the combination of slightly lower crotch curve and general looser fit definitely makes these more comfortable than my corduroy pair. I may have gone too far on the loose fit, though - there is a little bit of fullness in the front of the crotch that is not attractive! I'll have to wear them for the day and see how they go.
I cut out and have 99% sewed my other pair, now. This time it's definitely a stretch fabric, but I still added about 1cm at each side. I just have to sew the waistband on now.
