And the fabric is dyed.

My two AC-style tops are now in the form of little piles of fabric, dyed and ready.

The left pile is for a long-sleeved top, blue over the cream, and the rightmost pile is for a short-sleeved top, taupe over dark blue.

The blues were dyed with "Moody Blue" and "Storm Blue" from Dharma trading company, both in small buckets where I didn't stir too much.  I wanted some variegation.  The two beige-tones were dyed with combos of tea and coffee, with the darker one also having a little dash of rose and light green rit dye (in the hopes that this would make taupe).  Everything has been washed in the machine a bit afterwards and no more dye is coming out, at least judging from the old rags that I put in there with them.  All in all, I'm pretty happy - they match my design board pretty well!

This morning I made my first attempt to spray the Stella stencil - it was a bear.   Too floppy and very difficult to get to lie flat on the fabric.  And then the parts that weren't glued down would flop up when the airbrush went on them!  However...since my paint was tone-on-tone it turned out okay.  Perhaps a little bit faint - I'll probably be kicking myself as I try to stitch it.  I'm much more worried about the taupe one, since it needs to be dyed in the same blue and any overspray will really show up.
